New community center to open in Forestville

FORESTVILLE — Neighbor-to-Neighbor Ministries is expanding with a project to relocate its community center. Parishioners of the Forestville Wesleyan Church are in the process of converting the former Chautauqua Ag and Home Center — located on Center Street in the village of Forestville — into the new home of the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Community Center. Once finished, the building will house a senior and youth center for area residents, and a food pantry and clothing outlet for the less fortunate. The Neighbor-to-Neighbor Community Center has been in operation since January 2002, originally located in the old motel building adjacent to the old Ag market, and currently operating out of the Forestville United Methodist Church building on Park Street. In 2002, the center began serving around 30 families each month. Now, however, it serves upwards of 130 to 135 families, distributing 10,000 to 13,000 pounds of food each month.
