The winners finished with an impressive 58 on Chautauqua Golf Club’s 72-par 18-hole Lake Course, handily sweeping ahead of runners-up Troy Prather, Todd Prather, Andy Poe and Dave Jancki who came in with a 63.
Todd Prather was later doubly rewarded when he won the grand prize of a one-week stay at the luxurious Polo Towers in Las Vegas, NV, which included a $750 airfare gift card, both courtesy of Westfield Professional Consultants Frank and Marion Oliva and an anonymous hospital supporter.
Winners of other major prizes were: Meredith Patton, a child’s pedal car, compliments of Jamestown Plastics; Ron Catalano, “All Things Chautauqua” package for two which includes a room at Mayville’s Chautauqua Suites, dinner at Olive’s and tickets to Chautauqua plus two rounds of golf with a cart at Chautauqua Golf Club and lunch at Andriaccio’s Family Restaurant; Michael Mucha, stay at Peek’n Peak. Included in the Chinese auction were stays at Webb’s Year-Round Resort and The Brasted Bed & Breakfast.
During the evening’s giveaways drawing, special honor was made to one “who has exemplified extraordinary service to the golf tournament for many years” was Carolyn Rawlinson. Besides having been chair for quite a few tourneys, donor and volunteer, she also has played in every tournament.
MC John Hamels, vice president of the foundation, noted that Carolyn “is well loved by all who know her and also is retired as a hospital associate. Her commitment, dedication and love for Westfield Memorial is second to none. She has worked tirelessly on behalf of the hospital and the foundation, often recruiting many members of her family and friends.”
Also acknowledged by Hamels was Wal*Mart of Fredonia, the major corporate sponsor of this year’s tournament. Representing Wal*Mart was its manager, Brad Balentine, who also played in the tournament.
Mrs. Rawlinson also was doubly rewarded. As the only female qualifier for the Closest-to-the-Pin contest on hole #6, she won $232. Also winning $232 in the men’s contest were Jeff Gerdy; second was Victor Matos, $50; and third was Doug Breon, $20.
Longest men’s drive winner was Jay Beers; Lori Foster took it for the women. Men’s winner for the longest putt was Tracey Heppler; for the women, Norma Hayes.
Although no one went home in a bright red Chrysler 300C because of lack of a hole-in-one for the day, many experienced a short test drive in one from Lake county Chrysler Dodge of Jamestown.
After a dinner catered by Andriaccio’s, Patty DiPalma and Cindy Harper, co-chairs of the tournament, extended thanks to committee members: John and Carolyn Rawlinson, Sid Hoyt, Cindy Warner, Cate Stimson, Sherry Millett, Susan Davis, Kim Raynor, Karen Surkala, Laura Asel and Holly Momberger.
