YWCA installs officers, continues goals

March 18, 2017
Westfield Republican

New officers were installed at the annual meeting of YWCA Westfield Board of Directors on February 22. President Heather Myers, Vice-President Darlene Golibersuch, Secretary Sarah Myers and Treasurer Arianne Correll pledged to serve the mission of the YWCA during their installation at the annual meeting of the YWCA Board of Directors on February. Outgoing President Renee Miller will continue to serve as interim executive director, a volunteer position she has filled since March of 2016.

The board heard upbeat reports from Interim Executive Director Renee Miller, Child Services Director Allie Aiello, and Treasurer Arianne Correll. Since March, when the directors eliminated the position of executive director, they have contributed 1300 volunteer hours and retired the $18,000 debt accumulated in 2016. Over the past year the entire operation has been deconstructed and reorganized to improve productivity. Key financial reporting systems, standard operating procedures and best practices are in place to support the mission of the YWCA. Staff and board development programs are in place to advance personal and professional goals. Member forums and strategic planning workshops are planned for 2017. YWCA Child Services has increased enrollment, expanded capacity, and enriched community partnerships such as Quality Stars.

Membership to the fitness center is has increased enrollment since the monthly membership fee was rolled back to $20. A campaign will soon be underway to raise money to replace worn equipment and to buy new lighting for the gym. The gym is now open 24/7 to fitness members, except when it reserved for an activity.
