WESTFIELD - Congressman Tom Reed announced the release of $150,000 in additional federal funds to help repair the breakwall at Barcelona Harbor in Westfield. The funding was approved by the Appropriations Committee.

"We care about making sure that we meet the needs of the individuals who rely on the harbor. The area is getting the fair attention it deserves and we're putting the federal funding we secured to use to benefit those who live there," Reed stated.

This photo of work being done at the Barcelona breakwall was taken in April. Recently, Rep. Tom Reed announced another $150,000 has been designated by the federal government for the breakwall.

Reed worked with local stakeholders to secure the federal funding needed to fix the damaged breakwall and make infrastructure improvements.

"We are elated the Committee approved the additional funding for our Barcelona breakwall repair. We want to thank Congressman Reed for his efforts to get this funding released. This funding puts us one step closer to the completion of this project," stated Westfield Town Supervisor Martha Bills.

The breakwall was damaged during a storm in October of 2015.
